Is there more to the sounds around our household? Can normal, everyday sounds be turned into soundscapes?

The sound design journey continues as a simple field recording of a domestic washing machine in action is morphed & transformed beyond recognition into vast soundscapes.

Exploring granular synthesis combined with delays, reverbs & pitch shifting effects, "Washing Machine" is an ambient sound design trip.

"Soother" is a very peaceful piece, followed by "Harmonies" in which the author looks for hidden granular pitch-shifted sounds. "Engine Room" is a dark ambient track that features one low frequency soundscape overdubbed with the same field recording sample being passed through pitch shifters and filters that make it generate basic rhythms.

Using only the recording of a simple washer (that can be heard in the last piece on the album, "The Sample") as sound source and Audiobulb's Ambient v4.1 together with the Zoom MS70-CDR MultiStomp Effect pedal (loaded with a couple of custom patches), "Washing Machine" is the proof that music & soundscapes can be constructed using sounds that are at our disposal, almost everyday.
